An icon who has worked ceaselessly in the community and government on matters related to women’s empowerment , Ms Judy Abong shared her inspiration with a group of friends with similar passion for Empowerment and created this organization in 2011 which they named Jacobs ladder Rescue abbreviated (JALARES).
The purpose of the organization is to improve the living conditions of rural women /girls and the underprivileged through advocacy, awareness creation, capacity building and psyco-social / material support. Priority areas of intervention include ( but not limited to ): Human Rights, education/skills training, disease prevention, environmental sustainability.
In the last 2 years Interested persons who have shown the desire to visit project sites in villages have been deterred by the insecurity existing there due to the armed conflict which began in 2016. It has also made it difficult for our project supervisors to access these areas. This has hampered project activities in remote areas limiting our activities to villages in peri -urban areas and urban towns.
We wish to thank those who have donated to support JALARES effort to improve on the quality of life for women and girls. In 2017 Truus Treep donated a laptop, and In 2018 Regina Tuma sponsored the Mini launch; in 2019 Mami Amina Abong/Mr Song enabled the start of the Limbe office by providing accommodation, furniture and computers. In 2020 Linux Friends Sokolo provided Laptops and a volunteer to help train adolescents in Computer literacy .
That not withstanding besides moral and financial support, we wish to appreciate the volunteers without whom the child friendly spaces would not have been possible. They are Joy Fumlack, Hannah Toh Sama, Shallote T.Kanjo, Losha Berka Eugine, Nangfack Comfort, Njoh Sylvie, Bameh Caroline, Michel Tsih, Samson Ngang, Patricia Tarh, Jerry Nkwo
We are therefore ready to welcome any good will gestures in what ever form which will enable us enhance our intervention for women’s empowerment.
